8 NDC Hoodlums Arrested During Primaries

Police have detained eight people around the country for different election-related offences and disrupting the peace during the National Democratic Congress’s Presidential and Parliamentary Primaries on Saturday, April 13, 2023.

Yaro Burdove, Harrison Martey, Imoro Ibrahim, Arkoli Mensah, Nyarko Richard, Prince Lomotey, Hamidu Dramani, and Bejando Emmanuel, the accused, were apprehended at their respective polling stations throughout four constituencies in the nation.

Specifically, suspect Yaro Burdove was arrested during the elections in the Ningo Prampram Constituency for photographing his ballot paper in the polling booth and attempting to photograph other voters’ ballots, while Harrison Martey and Imoro Ibrahim were arrested for engaging in an unlawful fight at a voting centre.

Arkoli Mensah and Nyarko Richard, suspects, were detained for disturbing the peace by participating in an illegal fight at a voting station during the voting process at the New Juaben South Constituency in the Eastern Region.

Suspect Prince Lomotey was detained at the voting centre in the Mfantseman Constituency in the Central Region for impersonation, while suspects Hamidu Dramani and Bejando Emmanuel were arrested for inciting violence at a polling station in the Atebubu-Amantin Constituency in the Bono East Region.

Five of the accused are now on Police inquiry bail, while the remaining three are in detention helping continue Police investigations.

Meanwhile, the Police Service has been alerted to a viral video in which Juliana Kinang-Wassan, a Parliamentary hopeful for the Ejura Sekyedumase Constituency, is seen spraying money at a crowd during the polls in Ejura, Ashanti Region. A professional legal team is presently investigating her actions in the video to see whether there are aspects of election-related criminality that necessitate Police intervention.

The Police Department wishes to reassure the public of its commitment to maintaining peace, security, law and order at all times.

Hopeson Adorye expects a runoff election in 2024

"There will be a miracle in Ghana because, for the first time, an independent candidate will be elected President and a unity government will be formed to develop the country." The 2024 election is critical because the ruling NPP expects to break the 8-year electoral cycle, while the NDC is on a rescue mission. Independent candidates such as Mr Kyerematen have pushed voters to abandon the two leading political parties, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), in favour of a new force.

Hopeson Adorye, a prominent member of Alan Kyerematen’s campaign staff, has forecast a runoff in the 2024 general election.

Mr Adorye stated on Accra-based Neat FM that the second round will be between Alan Kyerematen and Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the flag bearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

“There will be a runoff election in the general election in 2024.” Alan and Bawumia will face a battle in the runoff,” he stated.

Mr Adorye, on the other hand, stated that Mr Kyerematen would go down in history as the first independent candidate to rule Ghana.

Sister Afia, Twene Jonas, and Oliver Khan 'the ship salesman' all took part in the big Afafranto Unity Walk, contributing their influence and voice to the campaign. Their participation has not only increased the movement's exposure, but also indicated a shift in support for Alan Kyerematen's cause. After working for nearly a decade in Ghana's Trade and Industry Ministry under two separate regimes, Kyerematen's decision to leave the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and join the Movement for Change was a daring and significant milestone in the country's political landscape.

Over 300,000 dynamic youth and women groups joined Alan’s Movement for Change in a walk named Afrafranto, transforming the political scene in the Ashanti Region.

The mind-blowing revolution, which saw over 300,000 individuals from the youth and women’s groups board the MFC train, established Hon. Alan Kyerematen’s political class as the founder and leader of Movement for Change (MFC).

Alan Kyerematen’s Yellow Army political Revolution signified a dramatic divergence from existing standards in political support and is fast gathering steam ahead of Ghana’s 2024 general elections.

The Yellow Revolution has attracted broad notice and support, most notably through community-based activities such as the famous Afafranto Walk.

The colour yellow has become linked with this movement’s symbols. It symbolises a new approach to politics in the Ashanti Region, a departure from the traditional party lines that have historically dictated political loyalty in the region.

The Yellow Revolution’s massive backing underlined the Ashanti people’s growing disenchantment with traditional politicians.

Alan Kyerematen’s track record and dedication to influencing change struck a chord with many Ghanaians looking for an alternative to established political techniques.

The Yellow Revolution gains traction with each passing day as the 2024 general elections approach.
