$9k found in Gomoa Okyereko accident car handed over to police

A total of $9,000 was recovered during a rescue attempt following a horrific tragedy at Gomoa Okyereko that claimed the lives of 16 people.

Winneba Fire Commander DO II Kwesi Hughes made the announcement while addressing journalists on the accident’s aftermath.

He claims that the money, as well as phones and other personal goods belonging to the victims, were turned over to the district police for identification and claim.

The rescue of around 40 individuals who were trapped when the Yutong bus with registration number GR 5866 crashed head-on with a fuel tanker with registration number WR 2063-10 was successful thanks to the combined efforts of the police, fire service, and ambulance service.

The wounded were airlifted to Winneba Trauma and Specialist Hospital, where they are being treated.

Meanwhile, attempts are being made to remove the wrecked vehicles off the Accra-Cape Coast route.
