A man from Ohio who falsely claimed to be a Ghanaian prince sentenced to 20 years in prison

An Ohio man has been sentenced to 20 years in prison on Wednesday for impersonating a Ghanaian prince and defrauding more than a dozen victims out of hundreds of thousands of dollars.
According to evidence presented in court during his trial, Daryl Robert Harrison, who used the aliases Prince Daryl R. Attipoe and Prophet Daryl R. Attipoe, defrauded at least 14 people out of more than $800,000.
In September, Harrison was found guilty of mail and wire fraud, conspiracy to commit mail and wire fraud, and witness tampering.
Prosecutors said Harrison stole money from people who thought they were investing in African mining and trucking companies for several years. According to the Justice Department, Harrison falsely claimed to be a Ghanaian prince with connections to those companies.
Many of Harrison’s victims were members of the Power House of Prayer Ministries, where Harrison and his stepfather pretended to be ministers. Prosecutors claim that Harrison and his stepfather used the investment funds for personal expenses such as renting a house in Colorado and purchasing luxury cars.
District Judge Michael J. Newman sentenced Harrison to the maximum allowed by law, 20 years in prison, which was more than the 14-year sentence requested by prosecutors.
“Each of the Defendant’s fraud crimes was committed in a cold, calculated and premeditated fashion,” prosecutors wrote in court filings, describing Harrison as an “extremely self-centred, self-possessed sociopath who has no respect for societal rules or norms, and further lacks any empathy or sympathy for his victims” that “intimidated and threatened his victims to establish and maintain control over them.”
Harrison had requested a much lower sentence from the judge, citing supportive letters from parishioners and family members. Harrison’s lawyer also mentioned that his wife, who is raising their six children, is battling stage IV cancer.
In December, Harrison’s stepfather, Robert Shelly Harrison, Jr., pleaded guilty to one felony charge. Later this month, he will be sentenced.

Ernest Opoku boasts about being given a BJ on a VIP bus

Ernest Opoku, a gospel musician, has come out to brag about receiving a BJ on a VIP bus while travelling to Accra a few years ago.
Ernes Opoku has been in the news a few times for being controversial, and his recent approach has won him fans and admirers.
The gospel singer recently revealed that his house used to be the headquarters of drug lords, but he never used any of the drugs. He admitted to having a connection with some drug dealers, who would sometimes hide their drugs in his house and return for them later, but he was never influenced to use drugs.

He revealed in a recent interview with Tony Best on Akoma FM’s Entertainment 360 that he once received a BJ from an unknown lady on a VIP bus on his way to Accra.
“From Kumasi to Accra, I sat in a VIP bus at night, and a woman I didn’t recognise from anywhere sat down next to me,” he explained. After a while, she began to nod off and lean on me, so I politely asked her to switch positions. As a result, she leaned against the glass.
“I put in my earphone and listened to Elder Mireku’s music for a while before drifting off to sleep. I awoke from my slumber when I felt a shift in the air, and when I looked up, I saw that the woman in question had my p£nis in her mouth, to which I yelled, “Jesus!”.

Don’t waste your time voting for him – Bulldog attacks Mark Okraku-Mantey’s parliamentary bid

Bulldog, the artist manager, has criticised Mark Okraku Mantey’s bid to become a member of parliament in 2024, claiming that he discourages constituents from voting for him.
Mark Okuraku-Mantey, the Deputy Minister for Tourism and Creative Arts, has announced his intention to run for the Ayensuano parliamentary seat in the Eastern Region on the New Patriotic Party ticket (NPP).
Bulldog, on the other hand, believes that Mark Okuraku Mantey does not deserve to be a member of parliament, claiming that he has not done enough to earn the support of his constituents.
“Some of his constituencies should not waste their time voting for him because he will not bring any change. Let me state it here clearly, and I know he will see it. Sitting here, I respect Mark as a person 100%, but when it comes to governance, I won’t even give him zero points minus, he won’t even get it,” he said.
Bulldog has advised Mark Okraku not to run for office, claiming that he lacks the necessary skills and experience to be an effective leader.
“Just being there, and looking at the contribution he made, I don’t even need to sit here and talk about Mark’s achievements, too many things he didn’t do. He has been in government, what has he done?
“When you criticize him, he will frown and respond by asking why you said anything about him. What is he going to do there? He has tasted governance for four years. What did he do?” he added.
“Someone like him, what is he going to tell his constituency? Also, he is lucky that it’s his constituency that he is going to because someone like him can never be president,” he shared.

It was a social experiment – Edem finally reveals the content of his NDC/NPP campaign posters

Ghanaian rapper Edem has finally revealed the reason for his posts after leaving social media users in the dark with two different campaign posters for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the National Patriotic Party (NPP).
According to Edem, his campaign posts were a social experiment to see what would happen if he did the following;
1. Are Ghanaians tolerant of opposing political viewpoints, and do news organisations verify facts before publishing them?
2. Are people excited to see more young people enter politics?
3. How do members of different political parties react to one another?
4. Do people’s political beliefs shape their attitudes, behaviours, and decisions?
5. How do intolerance, bias, and prejudice affect people and their interactions with others who hold opposing political views?
In addition, the award-winning rapper urged “followers of both Parties to use the same energy to support creatives on social media.”
On Tuesday, March 21, the rapper shared a political campaign poster featuring the National Democratic Congress (NDC) logo, announcing a major announcement.
He captioned the poster, “Big announcement tomorrow at 4 pm.”
Edem’s post drew both positive and negative reactions from colleagues and social media users who were convinced he was about to announce his candidature for parliament on the NDC ticket.
In an odd turn of events, Edem shared another political poster with the ruling National Patriotic Party (NPP) logo on Wednesday, March 22.
“4 p.m., I take a stand,” he captioned another poster.
