Accident at Sefwi Afere has left one person dead and 23 others injured

At least one person is presumed dead, and 23 others have been injured in an accident involving a Sprinter bus transporting passengers to a funeral in Sefwi Afere, near Juaboso in the Western North Region.
Earlier on May 20, the Sprinter with registration number ER 1993-13 allegedly drove off the road, entered a nearby shrub, and burst one of its tyres.
The accident happened on the Bodi-Juaboso road while a group of families, friends, and sympathisers of a bereaved family from Aboaboso in the Bodi area were driving to Sefwi Afere for a funeral ceremony for a deceased relative.
A young lady died in the collision, according to eyewitnesses.
Adama Francis, the unit committee chairman for Sefwi Afere, verified the incident to Citi News.
He also confirmed that there are frequent accidents involving smaller cars on the route.
As a result, he warned drivers to be cautious on the road.
“Accidents mostly occur, but it does not involve big vehicles. Most of the accidents that occur here involve taxis and tricycles. This is a serious accident, we all have to be careful when driving on the roads,” Adama Francis advised.

Winneba Ramsar site not sold – Afenyo-Markin

Alexander Afenyo-Markin, Member of Parliament for Effutu, has blocked the sale of the holy woodland utilised in deer shooting during the yearly Aboakyire festival to certain investors.
Some residents of Winneba in the Central Region’s Effutu constituency came to the streets on Tuesday to express their outrage over claims of the sale of the Ramsar site in Winneba to investors for mining interests.
Speaking to media, the Deputy Majority Leader in Parliament stated that such statements are false and should be ignored.
He blamed the claims on the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
“The NDC in my constituency has come out with serious allegations to the effect that government officials, including my office, sat unconcerned and allowed people to buy the sacred forest of Effutu where we go for deer hunting for the mining of lithium and I simply want to say that this allegation is false.”
“In fact, the Minerals Commission two years ago stated the effect that such an application has not even been received by them, not to mention approving a company to mine lithium in that sacred forest, and so I want to put it on record that there is no such thing.”
