Akufo-Addo names three new Supreme Court justices

In a letter to Parliament, President Akufo-Addo stated, "...I consulted with the Council of State by submitting the names and CVs of the nominees for appointment to the court." The Council of State notified me of the successful completion of the consultation process by letter dated 11 August 2023. "Therefore, in accordance with article 144(2) of the Constitution seeking the approval of Parliament for the appointment of the nominees as justice of the Supreme Court."

President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has proposed three new Supreme Court justices for ratification by Parliament.

The nominees are Court of Appeal judges Henry Anthony Kwofie, Yaw Asare Darko, and Adjei Frimpong.

First Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joseph Osei-Owusu, recommended the nominations to the House Appointments Committee for assessment and report.

Mr Osei-Owusu informed the House that their nomination came as a result of the retirement of Justices Kwasi Anin Yeboah, Nene Amegatcher, and Jones Dotse earlier this year.
