Asante Kotoko finally removes Otumfuor’s image from new jersey

Asante Kotoko

Management of Asante Kotoko has announced that club kits for the 2022/23 season have been amended after several consultations with the manufacturing company, Errea.

It will be recalled that Asante Kotoko after launching their kits received a public backlash from club faithful and connoisseurs who opined that the image of life patron Otumfour Osei Tutu II embossed on the jersey is in bad taste.

Though these assertions were vehemently opposed by some management members and supporters, the chief executive of the club, Nana Yaw Amponsah was reported to have received a summons from the Manhyia Palace to explain the rationale behind the design of the apparel.

However, the new announcement suggests that the management of the club have been called to order to expunge the image of the traditional ruler and sole shareholder of the fabulous Kumasi-based red army.

Meanwhile, the club is set to begin pre-season without a substantive head coach as they will later fly to Turkey to continue preparations for next season.
