Asante Kotoko said on Tuesday that winger Joseph Amoako has been banned indefinitely awaiting a final verdict through the club’s disciplinary processes.
Amoako was suspended following his misbehaviour on social media with fans and the publishing of leaked audio on microblogging sites.
Amoako, who just returned to the club following a loan spell with Helsingborgs IF in Sweden, got into an argument with the Kumasi-based team’s supporters on Facebook, which resulted in some of the fans assaulting him.
As a result of his misbehaviour, the 20-year-old winger has been suspended from all club activities indefinitely.
Amoako was previously arrested by Swedish police in November 2022 for having sexual relations with a juvenile. Due to the rape claims, Helsingborgs IF cancelled his loan agreement before the contract expired in January.
The brilliant young winger was first found guilty on two charges and sentenced to 24 months in prison by the Helsingborgs District Court, but he was released after an appeal.
Amoako struggled for playing time at Helsingborgs IF, appearing in only 10 games (295 minutes) in all competitions.
