Asante Kotoko legend Joe Debrah announced dead

Debrah is widely recognised as one of the best dribblers to have graced the Ghana Premier League, establishing a lasting impact in Ghanaian football. Fans and the football community will remember and honour his contributions to the game. Debrah also performed admirably for the Ghaan senior national team, the Black Stars.

Joe Debrah, an Asante Kotoko icon, died at the age of 52, according to former Ghana international Anthony Baffoe.

Baffoe announced the news on Friday, encouraging people to put their health first.

At the time of his statement, Baffoe said, “Joe Debrah Asante Kotoko and Ghana Legend has passed… li-llāhi wa-ʾinnā ʾilayhi rājiʿūna), Indeed, we belong to Allah, and indeed, to Him, we shall return.”

“Let’s take care of our health because we don’t know what tomorrow holds,” he said, emphasising the significance of health and the uncertainty of the future.

Joe Debrah, who played as an attacker, tortured defenders during his playing career. His outstanding abilities on the pitch earned him the title of legend, notably during his eight-year stint at Kotoko.
