"What we want is someone who will put our money to good use." "It is none of our business what religious group an individual chooses to join," he stated at a town hall meeting with identified groups in Sunyani. "In this country, only two towns speak my native Nkoran language." I would not have received any votes if people had opted to vote on tribal lines during the election of party officers. But people observed my skill and gave me the opportunity, and I want that to happen again in the general election." "If we are to merge tribalism, ethnicity and religion with politics, it will take God from heaven to settle misunderstandings because He is the only one who can choose the best amongst what He created," he told the audience.

Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, has urged Ghanaians to vote on competence rather than religious lines in the 2024 elections.

He stated that Ghanaians want a president who can efficiently handle the country’s economy.

He stated that the religious background of the candidates should not be considered.
