Paris Diamond League gold winner, Benjamin Azamati has weighed the expectations of Ghanaians and assured the country of winning a medal at the 2022 Commonwealth Games in Birmingham.
Azamati in an interview with Graphic Sports noted the magnitude of expectations back home following his exploits in some recent outings representing Ghana on the tracks.
“It is not going to be easy for anybody to win a medal just like any other competition in the world, but I am ready to shoulder the expectations of Ghanaians,” he intimated
The 100 metres and 4×4 relay sprinter is banging hopes on his work rate and the effort he’s put in in his young career.
“I believe it is time to make our years of hard work pay and I can’t wait to achieve that.”I have been working hard all these years to become a champion but unfortunately I’m yet to achieve a personal record.“The experience has been very good for my career and I’m ready to put all that I’ve learned together and deliver a medal for Ghanaians.” He told Graphic Sports.
Azamati is expected to win gold at the ongoing Commonwealth Games following his impressive start in the heat, qualifying for the semifinals of the men’s 100 meters race with a time of 10.19 seconds in heat 7.
