Black Queens easily defeat Guinea in the 2024 Olympic Games qualifications

Ghana defeated Guinea 3-0 in the first leg of their Paris 2024 Olympic Games qualifier on Friday evening at the Stade General Lasana Conte.

The Black Queens quickly grabbed control of the game, with striker Vivian Adjei Konadu capitalising on a goalkeeping error in the 19th minute to put Ghana ahead. The early goal set the tone for an action-packed meeting between the two West African nations.

Ghana’s dominance continued, and Doris Boaduwaa increased their lead in the 27th minute with a well-placed strike that caught Guinea’s defenders off guard.

The Black Queens’ continuous attack pushed the Guinean side on the back foot throughout the first half, leaving them unable to find a solution to Ghana’s attacking brilliance.

Guinea’s chances of a comeback were crushed in the 48th minute when Camara Manet earned her second yellow card, resulting in her dismissal.

Ghana made an important substitute in the 52nd minute, with Mary Amponsah replacing Priscilla Adubea, giving their offensive squad fresh vigour. In the 72nd minute, Amponsah sent a beautifully fitting cross to Evelyn Badu, who delightfully hooked it into the net to give Ghana their third goal.

This crucial victory has laid the groundwork for the much-anticipated second leg in Ghana on Tuesday.

The Black Queens will try to sustain their momentum in the qualification round in order to qualify for the 2024 Olympic Games in Paris.
