Delegates from around the country voted on Saturday, November 4, 2023, to choose who would be the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer for the 2024 elections.
Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP) Kennedy Agyapong, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, former Agriculture Minister Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, and Francis Addai-Nimoh, former Bantama MP, were among the contenders.
Dr Bawumia earned 118,210 votes, or 61.47 per cent of the vote, while Mr Agyapong received 71,996 votes, representing 37.41%.
Dr Afriyie Akoto, who finished third, earned 1,459 votes, or 0.76%, while Addai-Nimoh obtained just 781 votes or 0.38%.
