ASFAR forward Ibtissam Jraidi has won the Golden Boot Award of the just-ended second edition of the CAF Women’s Champions League tournament held in Morocco.

The Morocco international grabbed the award after emerging top scorer of the event, with six goals from five games to propel the host to a maiden title haul in the women’s football spectacle.

Jraidi launched her campaign in style in the colors of the Moroccan Army as she scored the 67th-minute winner to hand the hosts a winning start with a 1-0 win over Simba Queens.

Her second came in the third match against Determine Girls as she scored in the 78th minute to seal a 2-0 victory and also ensure they finished at the top of Group A with nine points.

With six goals, the lethal forward edged favourite Mamelodi Sundowns’ Lelona Daweti and fellow teammate Fatima Tagnaout with four and three respectively to the individual accolade.

The 29-year-old’s third also turned out a first half matchwinner in Mohamed Amine Alioua’s ladies 1-0 semi-final victory over Nigerian side Bayelsa Queens.

She rounded off the race with a remarkable hat-trick against holders Mamelodi Sundowns in the final at Stade Prince Moulay Abdellah at the weekend.

Jraidi was named Woman of the Match thrice in five games, including in the final victory over the South Africans.

She also set a new record as the all-time lead scorer in a Champions League tournament with a goal above Hasaacas Ladies’ Evelyn Badu, who scored five goals in Egypt 2021 and also joins the growing list of past winners of the golden boot, after Badu.
