Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude Sackey Torkornoo, Chief Justice, says the leadership of Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Dr George Akuffo Dampare inspires her.
According to the Chief Justice, any attentive observer would immediately see the IGP’s effort in rebranding the police and situating it in the public’s eyes.
Speaking during a stakeholder meeting between the police and the judiciary’s leadership in Accra on Wednesday, the Chief Justice said the IGP’s leadership of the police service inspires her in her own path as the judiciary’s new head.
“I must say that I find your leadership of the Police Service extremely inspirational. I think it is only a blind person who would not have noticed how much you have achieved in such a short time in rebranding the image of the police,” the CJ said.
She also stated that the IGP has demonstrated that the police can be a force whom the people can trust.
“You have shown that the police can be a source of integrity and help rather than destruction. I find your leadership inspiring in your effort to present the police for what they are and what they ought to be”.
She stated that the judiciary will collaborate with the police to get a spot on the Police TV channel for the judiciary to educate Ghanaians on how the justice system works.
The IGP, for his part, stated that he and his team are willing to listen and collaborate with the courts to devise steps to address all of their security concerns.
