Claims that I don't respect the Board are false - Nana Yaw Amponsah

Nana Yaw Amponsah, CEO of Asante Kotoko, has dismissed speculations of a conflict with the club’s board of directors.

According to sources, Amponsah, whose three-year contract expires in August, does not have the backing of the board, which is chaired by Dr Kwame Kyei.

Some have accused Amponsah of failing to respect and consult the board before making critical decisions, but he has refuted the allegations.

“There are claims I don’t respect the board of Kotoko but that is false. We have a board of 12, I don’t think you will get more than three to tell you I don’t respect.

“Jesus Christ was even crucified so I don’t expect everyone to love me. I have never disrespected anybody in my life. Arrogance will never form part of my life because I lost two brothers who did not wake up from their sleep,” he said on Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM.

Despite being the defending champions, Kotoko have struggled to make an impression this season.

The squad did not win the FA Cup and is likely to lose the Ghana Premier League since they are now eight points behind league leaders Aduana Stars with four games remaining.

Kotoko have only won two of their past seven games and will meet demoted side Kotoku Royals in Dawu on Sunday.
