As the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearership competition heats up, Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has emphasised the significance of a clean and courteous campaign.
Dr Bawumia stated that once the election is over, the party must unite as a cohesive force to guarantee that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) does not retake power.
As a result, he urged that the internal competition not be contentious.
Dr Bawumia told party supporters in the Ashanti Region that he has urged his supporters and spokespersons not to reply to hopefuls who insult him.
Dr Bawumia emphasised that as a family, all sides must acknowledge that a united front is required to face the “main enemy,” which is the NDC.
“I have instructed all my supporters and spokespersons that we must conduct a clean campaign, avoiding any form of insults.
“We are one family, and we must remain united. Once the contest concludes, we will come together as a cohesive force to ensure the NDC does not return to power.”
On November 4, the NPP will choose their candidate for the 2024 elections.
So far, all ten flagbearer candidates have been approved to run in the next elections.
The announcement was made in a news statement released on Wednesday, July 12.
According to the press release, the Prof Mike Oquaye scrutinising Committee accepted all ten applicants after individually scrutinising them.
According to the party’s General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the Committee made this public in their report in accordance with Article 10(3) of the NPP constitution.
