E/R: Five people perish in the Afram River

Despite the fact that the water levels have reduced, the Afram River volumes remain high and might sink any boat with the smallest technical problem. Five people perished while crossing the Afram River in a boat to a field at Azietsikorpe in the Kwahu Afram Plains South District.

A sixth corpse is still missing, and rescue attempts are ongoing.

Assemblyman Johnson Anglesinya of the Gyata Electoral Area verified the statistics.

Six more folks were retrieved alive.

The dead were among 12 people hired to labour on a farm across the Afram River.

They boarded a boat on Wednesday evening without life jackets, expecting to get to their destination on Thursday morning before the drowning tragedy.
