Five people perished while crossing the Afram River in a boat to a field at Azietsikorpe in the Kwahu Afram Plains South District.
A sixth corpse is still missing, and rescue attempts are ongoing.

The dead were among 12 people hired to labour on a farm across the Afram River.
They boarded a boat on Wednesday evening without life jackets, expecting to get to their destination on Thursday morning before the drowning tragedy.
Despite the fact that the water levels have reduced, the Afram River volumes remain high and might sink any boat with the smallest technical problem.
Officials from the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and people from the area around Afram Lake assisted in the rescue attempts.
Evans Ntiri – Kyei, DCE of Kwahu Afram Plains South, said he is awaiting an official briefing from the rescue team.
