Family of Asamoah Gyan satisfied with High Court’s divorce decision

During an interview on Asempa FM, Baffour said that they learned Gifty, Gyan's ex-wife, was already married to another guy, prompting Gyan to file for divorce and request a DNA test to confirm the paternity of his children. He emphasised that the properties allegedly awarded to Gifty by the court were presents that Asamoah Gyan had registered in her name during their partnership.

Baffour Gyan, brother of former Ghana captain Asamoah Gyan, has expressed the family’s satisfaction with the recent High Court verdict in Asamoah Gyan and Sandra Gifty Gyamesi’s divorce case.

Baffour Gyan discussed the court’s ruling in a radio broadcast on Asempa FM, underlining that it was mostly to Asamoah Gyan’s benefit.

According to Baffour Gyan, the court allowed Asamoah Gyan’s request to have his marriage to Gifty annulled. The family was overjoyed with the conclusion, citing facts about Gifty’s former marriage to another man, which they were unaware of, as a crucial factor in Gyan’s decision to seek a divorce and obtain a DNA test to prove his children’s paternity.

He emphasised that the properties allegedly awarded to Gifty by the court were presented that Asamoah Gyan had registered in her name during their partnership.

Furthermore, the GHC 25,000 monthly payment is for Gyan’s children, not his ex-wife. Gyan is prepared to pay extra child support, according to Baffour, because the DNA test established the fatherhood of all three children. In light of their marriage’s dissolution, the court first denied Gifty’s extravagant alimony petitions, including one for $1 million.

Baffour Gyan clarified the early rumours that Gyan would gift Gifty with a four-bedroom house in Spintex, a mansion in the United Kingdom, a land piece allocated for a filling station, and two automobiles. He added that Asamoah Gyan registered these assets in Gifty’s name throughout their partnership.
