In the first leg of the third round of FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup qualifications, the Black Princesses recovered from behind to defeat Eswatini 6:1.
Ghana conceded in the fifth minute after a defensive failure allowed the host to throw the ball past Afi Amenyaku.
Mercy Attobra scored in the 10th minute from Beline Nyarko’s pass.
Beline Nyarko nearly gave the Princesses the lead, but the attacker failed to capitalise on her opportunity.
Nyarko, on the other hand, made no mistake in the 28th minute, connecting Hellen Alormenu’s exquisite.
As the sides went into halftime with Ghana ahead 2-1, the Black Princesses continued to dominate possession in midfield and attack.
In the 49th minute, Wasiima Mohammed’s spectacular effort from the edge of the 18-yard box increased the Black Princesses’ advantage, before Success Ameyaa set up Sarah Nyarko for the fourth goal in the 59th minute.
Mercy Attobra scored a brace with a few minutes remaining to give the Black Princesses a 6:1 victory.
On Sunday, November 19, 2023, Ghana will host Eswatini at the Accra Sports Stadium in the rematch.
