We are looking at some celebrities in Ghana who have led good examples that needs commendations and a behavior that can be imitated by young ones as they look on.

The list will not follow any form of importance or a chronology. Let me state that this article is an opinion and of course everyone has one. In case you agree or disagree to some of the names, you can do me the honor by leaving your comments in the comment section below. But help me do Ghanaians and beyond the honor, by doing me the honor of sharing the article for the Ghanaian populace to have the chance to feed their curiosity.

Akwasi Boadi – Akrobeto

Akrobeto started his acting career with the Kristo Asafo mission when he was brought to Accra by Ghanaian great, Apostle Kojo Sarfo with the likes of Agya Koo. Akrobeto in one of his interviews shared a story when he used to wash Nkomode’s car in order to get paid to makes ends meet. Akwasi Boadi is one of the few veterans who have stayed relevant from time immemorial till date. He’s starred in a lot of Kumawood movies notably, Agyapadie, Ensei me din, Hwe wano asem yie….etc.

Akrobeto is one role model whose journey and lifestyle can be emulated. Forgive my biasness but for me, he is the greatest actor of all time. He’s led an exemplary life throughout his career devoid of bad publicity. He currently host a program on UTV titled “The Real News”. He’s not had bad press throughout his career and I recommend him to you as a good role model whose character can be emulated.

Okyeame Kwame

Born Kwame Nsiah-Apau, was a member of the defunct music group Akyeame, which means linguists in Akan. His other colleague also known as Okyeame Quophi is now a radio presenter which means he couldn’t carry on as a musician because of responsibilities and the hard work involved even though he started radio long ago. They made thier debut single in 1997 when they recorded “brebre obaahemaa” which was produced by Andrew Opoku Amankwah (Easylink). Some of their popular songs includes Bra yen tina, Adonko, Sankofa, Ene yebeda okyena, Brebre, Sick with love, Obanyansafo, Damirifa due, Di asa, Asa a aba so, All I got, Akuaba (remix with Kojo Antwi).

They parted ways in the mid 2000’s as Okyeame Kwame soldiered on to win artist of the year at the Ghana Music Awards in 2009. He made several hits within the calendar year with his biggest hit “Woso” coming through that same year. Okyeame Kwame earlier dated Nana Ama McBrown in his early career but the two broke up and he went ahead to marry his current wife, Annica Nsiah-Apau who they have brought forth two children.

The Mr. “Made in Ghana” man has stayed relevant from 1997 till present date and most importantly, he’s stayed off controversies in his career. As responsible as he is, and the fact that he’s taken upon himself to champion the course of Ghana by advocating for people to patronize made in Ghana goods, I hereby present to you the Rap Doctor as a good role model.

Adjetey Annan.

Adjetey Annan, popularly known as “Pusher” rose through the ranks of popular TV series “Things we do for Love”. The then young actor gained a lot of admiration from Ghanaians with his walking dexterities and for his role as the ‘bad boy’ in the series.

Pusher has been married for 12 years with Elom Annan. He has so much respect in the acting circles as most of his colleagues have kind words for the 46 year old. His exploits as an actor earned him the position of a part time lecturer at NAFTI where he lectured for years. He has many awards to his credit including, Ghana Movie Awards Best Actor 2014, Golden Movie Awards Best Actor 2015, GIAMA Awards and others. He has also received numerous nominations both locally and Internationally.

His amazing career is still on course as he continues to play a role in You Only Live Once “YOLO” where he is the father of the main character, Cyril. Pusher throughout his career has been a very good mentor and a role model for young people. He’s stayed away from troubles and negativity in the Industry. I encourage you to emulate his character.

Nana Ama McBrown

Born Felicity Ama Agyemang, aka Nana Ama McBrown is one gallant woman who deserves a standing ovation for her sterling active roles in Ghanain movies. She is one of the few who has starred in both Twi and English movies. Her talent is unparalleled because of her versatility of doing good singing and acting at the same time.

I celebrate Nana Ama McBrown especially because of what she’s been through as a barren woman. There’s this popular Akan adage that says “Don’t accuse God if the day is not yet over”.

Nana Ama McBrown has been married for years and she conceived in 2018 and gave birth to her only child, Baby Maxin. Her journey has been very difficult because of the accusations of marrying a man who is younger and giving birth at the age of 45. This story couldn’t deter her from reaching greater heights in her career as an actress. She currently has two programs running on UTV, McBrown’s kitchen and United Showbiz.

She’s had a wonderful career and has featured in a lot movies notably, Asoreba. She has the following movies to her credit. Side Chic Gang which is on Netflix, Madam Joan, Vagabonds, Beautiful Soul, My Own  Mother, Daughters of the night and many more.

Nana Ama McBrown’s character is worth imitating because the industry is full of negativity and controversies and interestingly she hasn’t been caught in any.

Shatta Wale

Born Charles Nii-Armah Mensah, aka Shatta Wale is arguably the most controversial music act in Ghana and to some extent West Africa. His manager, Bulldog of Bullhaus, once upon a time likened his comeback to that of Jesus Christ. The 36-year-old went on 10 years hibernation from the music scene and made a great comeback to dominate the Ghanaian music industry.

I guess you are thinking his career has been full of controversies and might think he doesn’t qualify to be a good role model because the initial four have abstained from controversies. Well, the keyphrase here is “Good role models”. His comeback alone can be a subject matter for discussion because not too many people can do what he has done. The “One Man” Shatta Wale stood against all odds to fight the industry which was dominated by Nigerian acts and made sure there’s sanity in the industry. He fought for the fair share of remunerations for musicians who were taking peanuts for shows.

Today, Shatta Wale has a clothing line but the interesting thing is, his fans who have franchised his clothing line are selling and making 100% profits without giving anything back to the Dancehall king. Yes, a number of loopholes can be pointed out in his career but his good surpasses his ‘bad acts’. If every artist in the industry is going to emulate the benevolence of Shatta Wale, the industry will be very good.

Shatta Wale has an award scheme for his fans and he is the first ever artist in Ghana, to hold a virtual concert which received a lot of plaudits and was emulated by the Ministry of Communications. Ladies and Gentlemen, I present to you Shatta Wale, who has had a wonderful career and a good role model for the ghetto youth.
