Flashback: Akufo-Addo Predicted Uprising of the Youth Against Government in 2016 – Watch Video
President of the Republic of Ghana, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has been cited in a video as far back in 2016 when he predicted the uprising of Ghanaian youth over the lack of employment in the country.
According to the then New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate, history has it that every country that does not create enough jobs for its citizens is in for an uprising against the government.
Akufo-Addo in his submission on Peace FM made reference to Tunisia where a young man took his own life as a result of unemployment in the Arab country.
Akufo-Addo went on to win the trust of the youth who turned out massively to vote against the erstwhile Mahama administration for lack of employment, economic crisis and mismanagement of the public sector and won with a landslide victory at the December 2016 polls.
However, it appears he may have predicted his own woes at the time due to the number of uprisings against his government following the economic hardships that have engulfed the country as a result of Covid-19 and the Russia-Ukraine war.
It began with a separatist group in the Volta region who planned on gaining independence to be called the Western Togoland. Other pressure groups like Fix The Country, Economic Fighters League, Arise Ghana, et al have all demonstrated against Akufo-Addo’s government.
