Aisha Huang, the Galamsey queen, has been convicted after changing her plea in the immigration case she was facing in the High Court to guilty.
The Chinese galamsey operator had previously pleaded not guilty to four counts of engaging in a mining activity without a licence, supporting the involvement of those involved in a mining operation, unlawful employment of foreigners, and entering Ghana when forbidden from doing so.
However, after months of trial, Aisha Huang chose to modify her plea on the last accusation, although her plea on the unlawful mining charges remained not guilty.
The decision came after the prosecution presented its final witness, an immigration officer who testified about Aisha Huang unlawfully entering the country.
The punishment, however, has been postponed until the trial is completed, according to Citinewsroom.
