Ghanaian Premier League striker, Prince Kwabena Owusu has stated in an interview with Esther Abankwa on Angel TV’s Abomu Sports that players of the elite division should be paid at 8,000 cedis.

According to the Bibiani Gold Stars marksman, local players are at a disadvantage due to meagre salaries given to players who ply their trades in the west African country.

“Salaries given to us are not encouraging because some players in the second division are promised 300 or 500 cedis but even these monies are not paid regularly”, he intimated.

Prince Owusu advocated that players can remain in the league if salaries are motivating enough and within the range of 8,000 to 10,000.

300 or 500 cedis can’t sustain players or cater for anything. At least premier league players should be given 8,000 to 10,000 cedis. Players in the league are only given from 1,500 to 3,000 cedis which is not enough and not paid regularly”, he added.

Prince Kwabena Owusu scored five goals in his first season in the Ghana Premier League with Bibiani Gold Stars last season and is expected to improve on his tally for the upcoming 2022/23 league season.
