Ghana’s economy has fared better under NPP – Freddie Blay
Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman Freddie Wosemawu Blay has lauded the government’s management of the economy.
He stated that the economy is in a better situation than it was when the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was in power.
Despite the global economic downturn, he told Citi News’ Hanson Agyemang, the NPP has been able to continue with its social intervention activities.
Mr. Blay expressed confidence that Ghana’s economy will recover significantly by 2024.
“The economy, in the hands of the NPP has been far better, irrespective of the challenges that we have faced. In terms of numbers and figures, and so forth, we have not slowed down in our social interventions.”
“The decisions regarding NHIS, Free SHS, road construction, and all other initiatives we embarked on have not been stalled despite the events in Ukraine. We are adapting to the situation, and things are improving. Therefore, by 2024, the economy will show signs of improvement.”
“Just as Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia admitted, we have faced difficulties and are still facing them. However, regardless of these challenges, we are performing better and displaying resilience. People should remain hopeful. We acknowledge that times are tough, but we have not mismanaged or displayed incompetence like the NDC,” Mr. Blay added.
Over 300,000 dynamic youth and women groups joined Alan’s Movement for Change in a walk named Afrafranto, transforming the political scene in the Ashanti Region.
The mind-blowing revolution, which saw over 300,000 individuals from the youth and women’s groups board the MFC train, established Hon. Alan Kyerematen’s political class as the founder and leader of Movement for Change (MFC).
Alan Kyerematen’s Yellow Army political Revolution signified a dramatic divergence from existing standards in political support and is fast gathering steam ahead of Ghana’s 2024 general elections.
Sister Afia, Twene Jonas, and Oliver Khan ‘the ship salesman’ all took part in the big Afafranto Unity Walk, contributing their influence and voice to the campaign.
Their participation has not only increased the movement’s exposure, but also indicated a shift in support for Alan Kyerematen’s cause.
After working for nearly a decade in Ghana’s Trade and Industry Ministry under two separate regimes, Kyerematen’s decision to leave the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and join the Movement for Change was a daring and significant milestone in the country’s political landscape.
The Yellow Revolution has attracted broad notice and support, most notably through community-based activities such as the famous Afafranto Walk.
The colour yellow has become linked with this movement’s symbols. It symbolises a new approach to politics in the Ashanti Region, a departure from the traditional party lines that have historically dictated political loyalty in the region.
The Yellow Revolution’s massive backing underlined the Ashanti people’s growing disenchantment with traditional politicians.
Alan Kyerematen’s track record and dedication to influencing change struck a chord with many Ghanaians looking for an alternative to established political techniques.
The Yellow Revolution gains traction with each passing day as the 2024 general elections approach.
The voting, sorting, and counting of votes in the New Patriotic Party’s parliamentary elections in the country’s 111 seats has concluded.
The elections were held in seats where the NPP did not have a sitting MP and were overseen by the Electoral Commission.

Mark Okraku-Mantey, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, has lost his attempt to be the New Patriotic Party (NPP) parliamentary candidate in the Ayensuano constituency in the Eastern Region.
He lost the NPP’s orphan constituency parliamentary elections on Saturday, December 2.
He received 136 votes, while the winner, Ida Adwoa Asiedu, received 410. Ernest Addo and Kingsley Boateng Adomah, the other candidates, received 4 and 3 votes, respectively.
The parliamentary candidate in the Adentan Constituency was Akosua Manu (Kozie), Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana National Youth Authority.
She received 814 votes, while her closest competitor, Kwasi Obeng Fosu, received 638. Kwame Obimpeh Winfred Nartey led the way with 18.
“Thank you for your congratulations, @KozieOzie. Victory was much earned. “The Adentan Constituency is returning!” President Akufo-Addo’s counsel, Kow Essuman, tweeted.
