Mikel Arteta, the manager of Arsenal, has put a stop to all speculation over Thomas Partey’s future at the club.
Despite rumours of a probable exit for the Ghanaian midfielder, Arteta has stated categorically his wish to keep Partey in the club for the forthcoming season.
Speaking to the media before their encounter against Manchester United, the Spanish tactician emphasised the significance of Thomas Partey to both himself and the club, emphasising that the midfielder would continue to play an important role in his plans moving forward.
“Yes [he will stay] – Thomas Partey is a super-important player for us and for me and we want him to be in the team, that’s for sure”
The rumours gathered pace after Arsenal signed Declan Rice from West Ham, prompting some to believe that Rice will replace Partey in the squad.
