I've been single for 30 years and still haven't found a partner… What's going wrong?

I’m a 57-year-old lady who was married for a few years when I was younger. My husband and I had two children together before he knew he was ***. This was 30 years ago, and I’ve remained single ever since, while he got married and left the country.

I didn’t allow it to stop me from seeing other men, so I’ve always gone out alone or with companions. It may be difficult at times, such as when I’m on vacation and I’m the only lady eating alone at breakfast. I’m sure people are talking about me. Shirley Valentine, I’m coming for you!

I have several activities that allow me to meet new people, but I’ve never met somebody special.

I’m generally the only Black lady (in the hamlet), and I’m just under 6ft and on the bigger side, so I stick out anywhere I go. I’m also now handicapped, so that’s an additional impediment. I’ve tried dating websites, but they only seem to attract males over the age of 70, which isn’t for me. I’m at a loss for what to do.

Thirty years is a long time to go without holding someone’s hand, much alone anything else. I’ve been crying over this for years, yet I’m still in the same situation.

I’ve lived in around seven different places throughout the years and have never had sex in any of them, which I believe is unfortunate.

My friends say they can’t believe I’m single since I have a terrific personality, am very witty, and am a lovely girl.
