Jim Jones' Net Worth in 2023, Age, Height, and Children

On July 15, 1976, Jim Jones was born Joseph Guillermo Jones II in The Bronx, New York. He was reared in Harlem by his maternal grandmother as one of three children of Nancy Jones and Joseph Guillermo Jones. Precious and Keisha Jones are Jones’ two sisters. He went to a local Catholic school and frequently skipped church and school to hang around at the railway station. He grew up alongside Freekey Zekey, another rapper.

Jones had a rough background and was caught stealing from a store on one occasion, leading to his expulsion from school at an early age. He met Dame Dash, a hip-hop legend and future co-founder of Roc-A-Fella Records when he was just six years old. Jones made acquainted with Cameron Giles, AKA Cam’ron, while he was a youngster. The two would have a huge effect on one other’s musical careers.

Personal Life

Jones is still with her long-term girlfriend Chrissy Lampkin as of this writing. He proposed to her on a 2014 episode of “Love & Hip Hop.” They are still not married, and despite being together for 16 years, they are not in a hurry, according to social media.

Jim and Chrissy purchased a property in New Jersey for $680,000 with a 6.875% loan rate in 2006. This resulted in a monthly mortgage payment of almost $4,500. According to a complaint filed in 2017 by the National Bank Association, the couple stopped making payments in 2010 and their debt had grown to $1.24 million plus interest. The bank finally foreclosed and sold the mansion.

Jones challenged rapper Tru Life to a fight in 2006 with a $50,000 wager after Tru Life referred to Cam’ron and Jim Jones as “bitches.” Tru Life replied to the challenge by robbing Jones of his jewellery and mocking him on his 2007 mixtape “Tru York.” Jones was photographed in a ‘Borat’-style thong for the album. Jones replied by gaining access to Tru Life’s MySpace profile.

Jones also created a fight with Jay Z after he criticised Z’s efforts as Def Jam boss. Jay Z retaliated with “Brooklyn High,” a diss tune set to the beat of Jones’ smash “We Fly High.” On December 22, 2008, Jones assaulted and kicked a buddy of Jay Z in the Manhattan Louis Vuitton shop. The next year, he pled guilty to assault charges.

Other feuds include one with ASAP Mob, which arose during a 2014 interview in which Jones criticised Mob’s style as “not street.” “They’re creative, but they’re not from the streets… We’ve got real swag and the epitome of fly… The price point and high fashion do not make it hip.” Jones also had a social media feud with Azealia Banks in July 2012, after Banks criticised Jones for taking credit for the word “vamp.” She linked this not just to his song “Vamp Life,” but also to his mixtape series and label of the same name, “Vampire Life.” Banks made a dig at Jones in the song “Succubi.”

Career

He began as a hype guy for rapper Cam’ron and then joined the hip hop group The Diplomats. In 2003 and 2004, The Diplomats released two albums. Diplomatic Immunity, their debut album, was certified Gold and peaked at #1 on the US R&B chart as well as #8 on the Billboard 200.

In 2004, Jones released his debut studio album, On My Way to Church. In 2005, he published his sophomore album, “Harlem: Diary of a Summer.” This corresponded with his appointment as an executive at Entertainment One Music. A year later, he released his third album, “Hustler’s P.O.M.E,” which yielded his biggest success, the 2006 single “We Fly High,” which was certified Platinum and achieved #1 on the Billboard Hot 100 and #1 on the US Rap charts. In 2008, “Pop Champagne” was his second greatest success.

He is the designer of the apparel labels Nostic and Vampire Life. He appears in State Property 2 as well as episodes of The Wire and Crash: The Series. He had an appearance on VH1’s reality show Love & Hip Hop. Dipskate is Jones’s own freestyle inline skating squad. In 2009, he received an Urban Music Award. Jones’s albums include Harlem: Diary of a Summer in 2005, Hustler’s P.O.M.E (Product of My Environment) in 2006, Harlem’s American Gangster in 2008, Pray IV Reign in 2009, and Capo in 2011, which included the lead song “Perfect Day.”

Jones also collaborated with DJ Webstar on the 2009 album The Rooftop. He co-starred in the television sitcom Chrissy & Mr Jones alongside Chrissy Lampkin from 2012 to 2013. He founded ByrdGang and ByrdGang Records, and in 2008, he released M.O.B.: The Album, which peaked at #29 on the Billboard 200 list. Jones returned to music in May 2019 with his sixth album, “El Capo.” Jones became a part-owner of the Richmond Roughriders in December 2017.
