Kwabena Agyei Agyapong, a New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer hopeful, has urged Asante Kotoko, one of Ghana’s most successful football teams, to return to its prior management system of choosing a single individual to oversee the club.
.
Agyapong’s comment has caused controversy among the club’s supporters and stakeholders, with some supporting his request for a change in management structure and others believing that the present model is enough.
.
This season, Asante Kotoko has struggled with internal issues, and its league success has been uneven.
“Kotoko must return to the module of appointing a single person to form a management/board to work with.”
“Kotoko’s chairman is the third most powerful person in Ghana after the president and Asantehene”
A board of seven(7) people can contribute at least $1.2mil to the management for recruitment”
Asante Kotoko is currently tied on points with bitter rivals Accra Hearts of Oak in fifth place on the league table.
