Kurt Okraku has announced a GH500,000 cash reward for the 23/24 Betpawa PL Champions

Kurt Okraku, President of the Ghana Football Association, has announced an increase in the prize money for the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League champions.

He made the statement at the Eastern Premier Hotel in Koforidua, Eastern Region, during the beginning of the new league campaign.

The incumbent champions, Medeama Sporting Club, were rewarded GH300,000 last season for emerging Champions of the league, a move that caused controversy from the football community.

Most people thought the sum was insufficient and unworthy of Ghana’s top squad.

According to Kurt Okraku’s newest statement, the victor of the 2023/24 league season would get GH500,000 in prize money, as well as a trophy and 40 medals.

The winning team will get GH200,000, while the losing team will receive GH100,000.

Kurt Okraku also stated that the clubs finishing fourth through tenth this season will be rewarded cash at the end of the season.

According to him, this is to boost the league’s competitiveness in the future season.

Accra Hearts of Oak got a GH250,000 cash award for winning the league in the 2020/21 season.

In the next season, Kumasi Asante Kotoko received the same amount of prize money for finishing first.

Last season, Medeama SC won the competition and was given GH300,000 for their efforts, resulting in a modest rise.
