Lawrence Alan “Larry” Kudlow was born in New Jersey on August 20, 1947. Kudlow attended the private schools Elizabeth Morrow and Dwight-Englewood. He graduated from the University of Rochester with a history degree in 1969. He went on to work as a staff economist at the Federal Reserve Bank of New York. He was already working on Joseph Duffey’s US Senate campaign in 1970, alongside Bill Clinton, John Podesta, and Michael Medved. A year later, he was admitted to Princeton University’s Woodrow Wilson School of Public and International Affairs, where he studied politics and economics.

In terms of his personal life, he married Nancy Ellen Gerstein in 1974 and divorced her in 1975. He married Susan Sicher in 1981, but they divorced in 1985 owing to disagreements in their lives. He married his wife, Judith Pond, in 1986.

Larry Kudlow joined Bear Stearns as chief economist and senior managing director in 1987. He was fired in 1994 due to cocaine use. Because of his addiction, he supposedly missed a critically important client presentation.
Larry was the economic counsel for A.B. Laffer & Associates, a member of the Empower America board of directors, and the consulting chief economist for American Skandia Life Assurance, Inc., a Prudential Financial affiliate. He has written for various US journals, including the National Review, as a nationally syndicated journalist and editor.
Larry hosted or contributed to a number of CNBC episodes from 2001 to 2018. He co-hosted “Kudlow & Cramer” with Jim Cramer from 2002 to 2005. Cramer resigned to host “Mad Money” in 2005, and their former show was renamed “The Kudlow Report” and continued until 2014.
