Lasmid’s much anticipated ‘Friday Nightmusic video has been released and it has started gathering varied comments in less than 24 hours.

The music video is as lively and colorful as the lyrics in the viral song but there are people who think the director got inspired and picked the concept from a Nigerian artist.

While his fans have judged it as classic and wished it goes viral and win awards, some critics and trolls say Lasmid copied Kiss Daniel’s “Buga” video concept.

Buga was shot with the concept of a typical Nigerian Carnival and Friday Night was also shot with that same concept.

Lasmid however used masquerades from Takoradi, his hometown, and told the story of the masquerades’ party but since Kiss Daniels released his video first, some are claiming Lasmid’s work was a copy.

Lasmid shot into the music scene after emerging as the winner of the 2019 edition of the MTN Hitmaker where he bagged a GHC 120,000 recording contract.

He was signed onto the Highly Spiritual Record label and in 2022, Lasmid released the remix for his single titled Sika with Kuami Eugene.

Sika gave Lasmid milage but it was his recent release, Friday Night, that got him onto international platforms and cemented his name in the industry as a budding artist.
