Mahama criticises Akufo-Addo over the behaviour of his appointees

Former President John Dramani Mahama has slammed President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo on the behaviour of his appointees.

According to Mahama, President Akufo-Addo appears to have forgotten his prior admonition to his appointees to seek personal riches in the private sector.

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) flagbearer raised worry that President Akufo-Addo’s appointees’ present attitude deviates greatly from the president’s admonition six years ago.

Mahama made these statements while addressing the Academic City University College’s graduating class of 2023.

During his address, he also advised graduates who intend to enter politics not to utilise their positions of power for selfish purposes, but rather to focus on helping the nation and its people.

“Some of you who will find yourself in politics, I wish to sound a note of caution, as President Akufo-Addo said if your goal into office is to enrich yourself, then don’t come, go to the private sector.

“Very profound words were spoken by the President, more than 6 and a half years ago. With what is happening today, I’m sure the President himself does not remember he spoke these very wise words.”

He also warned the graduates not to victimise others or settle personal scores when they take on leadership posts.
