Nana Oduro Sarfo, a well-known Ghanaian football administrator, has apologised to former Ghanaian captain Stephen Appiah.
The apology follows a contentious statement made by Nana Oduro Sarfo about Stephen Appiah’s assertion that ex-footballers have been neglected by the Ghana Football Association.
The Berekum Chelsea director is quoted as saying that Appiah and his colleagues can be given roles in football administration only if they pursue higher education to give them the requisite skill and knowledge to manage affairs of the game.
His comments received a wide public backlash from old footballers, administrators and sports pundits across radio and TV sports programs.
It is in lieu of this that the former TP Mazembe director has issued an unreserved apology to Stephen Appiah, ex-footballers and Ghanaians at large for his unfortunate comment.
“Ghanaweb misquoted and twisted what I said about Stephen Appiah. I only advised that ex-footballers should upgrade themselves. However, I unreservedly withdraw and apologize for everything I said.” He told Asempa FM on Friday.
Meanwhile, Oduro Sarfo revealed that he will personally meet Appiah and render an apology when Laryea Kingston returns to Ghana from a Black Starlets assignment in Serbia.
