The Central Region National Democratic Congress (NDC) has stated that it is ready to accommodate Assin Central Member of Parliament (MP) Kennedy Ohene Agyapong if he is willing to cross the carpet and join the NDC.
According to the Central Regional Chairman of the NDC, Prof. Kofi Aseidu, the events following the New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential primary on Saturday are a clear indication that the NPP is not ready to go against its tradition of intimidating its members, especially those from the Central Region.
Prof. Aseidu chastised the NPP administration for utilising party apparatus to assist one of the three candidates who ran in the election.
Bawumia won the NPP presidential primary on Saturday, putting him in a run-off with former president and NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama in the 2024 general election.
He beat three other contenders, including Kennedy Agyapong, the outspoken Assin Central MP; Dr Owusu Afriyie Akoto, a former Minister of Agriculture; and Francis Addai-Nimoh, a former Mampong MP.
