Nottingham Forest Manager Confirms Injury to Dede Ayew

Nottingham Forest Manager Steve Cooper confirmed yesterday at a press conference that Black Stars captain André Ayew (Dede) injured himself during the international break with the national team.

However, the coach did not provide a definitive response on the Ghanaian captain’s availability for the Reds.

“Serge Aurier, André Ayew and Gustavo Scarpa have picked up some injuries over the break as well. We’re not sure how long they will be out for or what their availability will be for the next few games,” he disclosed.

After suffering a knee injury on Thursday, March 23, Ayew was ruled out of the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier against Angola. Ayew slipped on his way to the dressing room and injured his knee, prompting him to return to his club for further treatment.

Forest will need all three points in this weekend’s Premier League survival match against Wolverhampton Wanderers at the City Ground.

Forest are 16th in the Premier League table with 26 points, with only three points separating them from bottom-placed Southampton. The Ghanaian is critical to the Reds’ chances of avoiding relegation.

Samuel Boadu's squad sealed the victory late in the second half with a goal from Mezack Afriyie. After the match, Narteh Ogum voiced his unhappiness over lost opportunities.

Asante Kotoko’s coach, Prosper Narteh Ogum, feels his club did not deserve to lose to Berekum Chelsea.

On Matchday 30, the Porcupine Warriors lost 2-1 to Chelsea at Golden City Park.

Steven Mukwala gave Kotoko the lead, but Stephen Amankona equalised for the home side, bringing the first half to a draw.

Samuel Boadu’s squad sealed the victory late in the second half with a goal from Mezack Afriyie.

After the match, Narteh Ogum voiced his unhappiness over lost opportunities.

“We deserved to win.” We played better and had some good opportunities that we might have taken, but you saw it,” he explained.

“I do not wish to mention that person’s name. Intimidation, that is all,” he said.

However, Asante Kotoko will look to return to winning ways when they meet rivals Hearts of Oak at the Baba Yara Stadium next weekend on Matchday 31.

The setback drops the Reds to 11th place in the league table, with 40 points.

In an exclusive chat with Citi Sports, Ababio emphasised the importance of winning the remaining matches to preserve their standing in the Ghana Premier League. "Right now, if I had to pick, I would choose to stay in the league for the time being, but all that aside, we prepare match by match. We're striving to earn and keep premier league status; that's our ultimate goal right now."

Alexander Ababio, Chief Executive Officer of Tano Bofoakwa, has emphasised the importance of remaining in the Ghana Premier League, indicating that he prioritises this over winning the MTN FA Cup and competing in the CAF Interclub tournament.

The Sunyani-based team is positioned 11th in the league, just one point ahead of FA Cup reigning winners Dreams FC, who have four outstanding games owing to their involvement in the MTN FA Cup.

In an exclusive chat with Citi Sports, Ababio emphasised the importance of winning the remaining matches to preserve their standing in the Ghana Premier League.

“Right now, if I had to pick, I would choose to stay in the league for the time being, but all that aside, we prepare match by match. We’re striving to earn and keep premier league status; that’s our ultimate goal right now.”

“With Nsoatreman, I aim to overcome them. Since joining the Premiership, we have played two matches, both of which resulted in draws. Though we beat Dreams FC, we will not be satisfied that we were able to remove them.”

This is going to be a local derby, and we’ll be ready to win.”

The 2023/24 MTN FA Cup final will take place on June 23, 2024, at the University of Ghana Stadium. Bofoakwa Tano’s next Ghana Premier League game will be against Samartex 1996 at the Nsenkyire Sports Complex in Samreboi.
