NPP contributes GH¢200K to KATH refurbishment

In order to address the facility's issues, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II launched a campaign to gather GH10 million. Frimpong Kodua, speaking after presenting GH200,000 on behalf of the NPP to the initiative, urged other business groups to donate to the cause.

Justine Kodua Frimpong, General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has urged Ghanaians not to politicise the effort to raise cash to restore the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH).

According to him, regardless of party allegiance, the tertiary hospital’s deteriorating status requires communal efforts to give it a facelift.

KATH serves over ten areas in Ghana, however, the hospital is now in disrepair and needs immediate care.

The tertiary facility’s infrastructure weakness has a significant impact on healthcare delivery since certain critical machines have broken down.

In order to address the facility’s issues, Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II launched a campaign to gather GH10 million.

Frimpong Kodua, speaking after presenting GH¢200,000 on behalf of the NPP to the initiative, urged other business groups to donate to the cause.

“The New Patriotic Party as a whole will also come and make our official contribution for this project, and the president will also come and support. At this point, we don’t need to be partisan because health does not matter whether you are NDC or NPP, and so we are calling on our brothers from the NDC and the other parties to support the project.”

After receiving the contribution, Professor Otchere Addai-Mensah, Chief Executive Officer of KATH, urged for concentrated efforts to solve the hospital’s issues, focusing on inadequate equipment for addressing severe situations such as dialysis machines.
