Kiari Kendrell Cephus, better known as Offset, was born on December 14, 1991, in Lawrenceville, Georgia. Along with his bandmates Quavo and Takeoff, he grew up in Gwinnett County, Georgia, in a middle-class family. They’re all connected; Quavo is Offset’s cousin, and Takeoff is Offset’s cousin once removed (Quavo is Takeoff’s uncle). They were all raised on music by musicians such as Outkast, Gucci Mane, Hot Boys, Lil Wayne, and Master P.
Personal Life
In 2017, Offset began dating fellow American rapper Cardi B. They secretly married in Georgia in September 2017, but did not publicly proclaim it—their wedding date was only revealed in June 2018, after celebrity gossip website TMZ discovered their wedding certificate. Despite being married, Offset openly proposed to Cardi on October 27, 2017, at a live concert in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. During an appearance on the television show “Saturday Night Live” in April 2018, Cardi revealed to the world that she and Offset were expecting their first child together.
Kulture Kiari Cephus, their daughter, was born on July 10, 2018. Offset has three more children from previous relationships: boys Jordan and Kody, and daughter Kalea. Offset and Cardi have had an on-again, off-again romance that has been exacerbated by rumours of Offset’s infidelity.
Offset has a history of run-ins with the law, having obtained felony convictions for burglary and stealing. In 2013, he was jailed in Georgia’s DeKalb County Jail for violating his probation for the aforementioned charges. Then, in 2015, Offset, Quavo, and Takeoff were detained at a Migos concert at Georgia Southern University. He was charged with undisclosed Schedule II drug possession, marijuana possession, handgun possession in a school safety zone, and firearm possession during the commission of a crime. Offset was then charged with violence and instigating a disturbance within a prison institution while still in detention, following an incident in which he struck another inmate.
He was freed in December 2015 after spending eight months in jail and accepting an Alford plea agreement in which the gun, drug, and gang-related charges against him were dropped in return for his admission to inciting a riot, paying a $1,000 fine, and serving five years of probation. Another condition of his plea bargain was that he agree to be barred from Bulloch, Effingham, Jenkins, and Screven counties in Georgia.
Cardi B filed for divorce from Offset on September 15, 2020. Cardi claimed primary physical custody of their daughter Kulture, child support, and an equitable division of assets in the divorce petition because there was reportedly no prenup. They had already been divorced at the time of the filing.
In December 2019, it was disclosed that Cardi B and Offset had paid $5.5 million for a property outside of Atlanta. The 22,000-square-foot mansion, which stands on just under six acres, features five bedrooms and eleven bathrooms. The mansion was advertised for $10 million in 2017.
Career
In 2008, Offset, Quavo, and Takeoff formed the hip-hop trio Migos. They were previously known as the Polo Club. After releasing their debut mixtape, “Juug Season,” in 2011, they rose to prominence in 2013 with their hit “Versace.” Migos’ debut studio album “Yung Rich Nation” was released in 2015. It peaked at number three on the US Rap chart, number five on the US R&B/Hip-Hop chart, and number seventeen on the Billboard 200 list. Their next huge success was “Bad and Boujee” (with Lil Uzi Vert), which became an Internet sensation in 2017. Offset’s phrase “rain drop, drop top” in particular sparked several memes.
Migos’ second studio album, “Culture,” was also released in 2017, and debuted at No. 1 on the US Billboard 200 list and was certified platinum by the RIAA. They followed up with “Culture II” in 2018.
In addition to his work with Migos, Offset released a collaboration album with 21 Savage and Metro Boomin called “Without Warning” in 2017. The album, which contains cameos by Travis Scott and Quavo, debuted at No. 4 on the US Billboard 200 list. Offset released his debut solo album, “Father of 4,” in February 2019. Motown and Quality Control Music published it, and it features J. Cole, Cardi B, Big Rube, Gunna, CeeLo Green, and Gucci Mane. “Father of 4” opened at No. 4 on the US Billboard 200 and was highly welcomed by reviewers and the general audience. He is the latest member of Migos to have released a solo album; Quavo and Takeoff both had debut solo albums published in 2018.
Offset has appeared in commercial campaigns for fashion designers and businesses like as Gosha Rubchinskiy, Bryce Barnes, and Lavati, in addition to his music career. He also featured with the other members of Migos in an episode of the television series “Atlanta” in 2016. In 2020, he premiered a new programme called “SKRRT with Offset” alongside Quibi, which follows him as he drives about with other celebrities in luxury automobiles. Offset was reported as a new investor in the Esports organisation FaZe Clan in August 2019, while the type and amount of the investment were not disclosed. He has subsequently appeared in two FaZe Clan YouTube videos.
Migos earned a total of $25 million between September 2017 and September 2018. Offset’s part of the gross revenues was most likely approximately $8 million. That figure was partly due to the group’s gruelling tour schedule, which saw them perform 93 gigs in a single year. With 4 billion streams in the same time span, they are also one of the most popular streaming acts on the globe. They made $36 million between September 2018 and September 2019.

Migos was one of the highest-paid music groups in the world at its height, collecting $25 million in total earnings between 2017 and 2018.
