Following repeated skirmishes in Yong Dakpemyili, a Tamale suburb, one person was killed and numerous others were injured.
According to Abdul Wahab Dawuda, the Assembly member for the area, there was a retaliatory attack on Saturday morning following the gunshot on Thursday night.
Three residences were burned in the incident on Saturday. According to Citi News, several residents have evacuated the neighbourhood.
The police have arrived to restore order.
Police in the Northern Region are already looking into a previous gunshot in the region.
According to locals, gunshots were fired throughout the town on Thursday, May 18, 2023.
The violence was blamed on a long-running chieftaincy feud between two brothers in the town.
Abdul Wahab Dawuda, the community’s Assemblyman, verified the occurrence in a Citi News interview, revealing that some residents were injured.
“There were some gunshots as a result of two brothers feuding over a chieftaincy title. One side was to perform some particular traditional activity and some people sustained some injuries, but there is currently calm in the community, but we don’t know what may happen next.”
