Controversial sports journalist cum management member of Asante Kotoko, Patrick Osei Agyemang, aka Countryman Songo has descended heavily on the owner and bankroller of Kumasi-based King Faisal, Alhaji Grusah, over comments he made on the 2022/23 season jerseys unveiled by the porcupine warriors.
Alhaji Grusah is on record in an interview with Kessben FM in Kumasi condemning the idea of embossing the picture of the life patron of Asante Kotoko, Otumfour Osei Tutu II on the new kits.
“It’s uncivilized to have put Otumfuo on the Kotoko Jersey. In fact, it’s a village thing. Otumfuo is more than that. Otumfuo does not go to war and lose. Maybe these Ashantis don’t know how Otumfuo is valued. Who does not know Otumfuo is the owner of the club? Which team does that in the world? We put sponsors on Jerseys. This is not maturity, they’ve already done it but they can go back and change” , Alhaji Grusah said on Kessben TV.
It is in light of this comment that the ‘Fire Man’ has taken to Asempa FM’s Sportsnite show, anchored by Professor E.K Wallace to lash out at Alhaji Grusah for poking his nose into the affairs of Kotoko, “A team he claims not to like”.
Songo in his usual elements used some unprintable words. However, he revealed that the palace is “very very happy with the new jersey”.
