David Kojo Kyei, commonly known as Kaywa, the Chief Executive Producer of Highly Spiritual Music, has revealed what has kept him going for over 20 years in the music production industry.
In an interview with 3FM’s Showbiz 927, presented by Caleb Nii Boye, the music producer discussed how he got started in the music industry.
“I started in 1998. I remember the day I started in my father’s boy’s quarters, I started producing beats,” he reminisced.
When asked what kept him in the game for that long, he stated, “Passion and the love for what I do. I believe that God always has a place in what is our passion. If it is good, God has a place in it every time. So it’s always the passion. I have been weary and tired but the passion keeps us going.”
Kaywa intends to relaunch himself after being in this arena for a long time. He discusses some platforms where he has received recognition for his work.
“Like I said, I’m thinking about revamping and coming hard as the producer you have always. I started with some people but by the grace of God, I’m still here. Just last year, I was awarded Producer of the Year. I think it was the PraiseTV Awards. The following year, it was Ghana Music Awards in the UK,” he mentioned.
Switching gears, Kaywa discusses outdooring Gospel artists from his label. He confessed that he is aware of the widespread speculation over why, as a minister of God, he did not have a Gospel singer on his label. He encourages everyone to unwind.
“There’s a new face of Gospel artistes. For lack of a better word, I call them Christian artistes emanating from Highly Spiritual Music very soon and when it comes, you’ll understand. I know you guys are talking but calm down,” he said.
