People Say I Am Poor, So They Disrespect Me – Reggie Rockstone

Veteran Ghanaian artiste, Reggie Rockstone has disclosed how some netizens have shown gross disrespect towards him, claiming he is poor.
In an interview on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, the artiste cum entrepreneur said people who disrespect him are attracting curses for themselves which is what is believed in the African culture.
“People say I am now poor and say all sorts of things to me, especially on Twitter. I am the pioneer of Hiplife. I am the reason Ghana had something unique to hold on to and now the young ones insult me on Twitter.
“When people do this it is a sign of ingratitude. I always tell our young brothers and sisters that they are cursing themselves because I have done nothing but good to them. In African tradition, it is a curse,” he stated.
While he touched on the topic of netizens’ disrespect, Reggie Rockstone also delved into the controversies surrounding the recently-released documentary on Hiplife, titled Hiplife Rewind, produced by the BBC.
The documentary featured the likes of Reggie Rockstone, music producer Panji Anoff, legendary video director Abraham Ohene-Djan, Kuami Eugene, KiDi, M.anifest, Eno, and Gyedu-Blay Ambolley.
Since its release, it has been heavily criticized by some highly influential figures who claim to have also been instrumental in the development of Hiplife music.
One of whom is a Ghanaian musician and radio show host, Okyeame Quophi, who on February 14, 2023, registered his displeasure about the project, and described it as misleading and non-factual.
“I watched this Hiplife documentary on YouTube yesterday which is produced by BBC and now fully understand why HIPLIFE IS DEAD. The 30 minutes plus presentation lacks the facts and is very misleading. Apuuu!!! Wei,” he wrote on Twitter.

KOD promises to vote for NDC in 2024 elections

Kofi Okyere Darko, commonly known as KOD, an award-winning broadcast journalist and Creative President of Nineteen57, has stated which political party he would vote for in the 2024 general election.
Previously, the media celebrity stated he was a member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) after supporting the party’s campaign ahead of the 2016 elections.
KOD, on the other hand, has declared his desire to vote for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in 2024. He expresses his dissatisfaction with the NPP for failing to meet their commitments.
On Joy Prime’s morning programme on Wednesday, he made these remarks during the ‘Big Interview’ section with host Roselyn Felli.
“I think Mahama was an amazing and wonderful president. He did amazingly well for this country, but when he lost the election and Nana Akufo-Addo became president, I thought, well, Nana has been trying for all these years.
“If he had never become president, it would have been like the best man we never had, and especially now that the narrative we hear is that the next person is going to do what I was not able to finish; no, that’s not Nana Akufo-Addo.”
“I am,” he answered when asked if he was disappointed by the president’s failure. “I’m extremely disappointed.”
‘So, come 2024, would you still vote for the NPP?’ he was questioned again. He said, “No.”
He responded “Yes” when asked about the NDC.
Despite this, he believes ex-President and NDC flagbearer John Dramani Mahama is good and has the capacity to transform Ghana’s economy.
The presenter further stated that he supported the NPP because he imagined a better Ghana under Nana Akufo-Addo’s administration, which did not materialise.
Although he praised the NPP government for instituting the free SHS programme, he believes it was not adequately implemented owing to the government’s failure to compensate caterers.
Furthermore, the fashion designer believes that the Akufo-Addo administration should have done better.
Ghanaians have accused KOD of violating journalistic standards by supporting the NPP as a journalist. However, he stated, “I’m just someone who is very passionate about Ghana.”
