The Parliamentary Adhoc Committee has received a fresh tape in its investigation into an alleged attempt to oust Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr George Dampare.
The Chairman of the Committee, Samuel Atta Akyea, revealed this to the media on Monday.
According to the Abuakwa South MP, the new tape is mistaken for the old tape.
He would not reveal the source of the new audio but said the Committee would have to listen to it and compare it to what it had before.
He indicated that the decision will influence the path of the investigation moving ahead.
Mr Atta-Akyea further stated that other top police personnel had petitioned the Committee as well.
Superintendent George Asare, one of the cops involved in the recording, came before the committee on Monday.
Supt Asare, like the Ghana Police Service’s Director of Operations, COP George Alex Mensah, who appeared before the committee last week, stated that the recording had been doctored and that there existed an original tape.
Supt Asare stated, among other things, that the star witness, former New Patriotic Party (NPP) Northern Regional Chairman Daniel Bugri Naabu, lied before the Committee.
