Prosper Addo and Tophic Sienu convicted in Ashgold vs GFA contempt case

Prosper Harrison Addo, General Secretary of the Ghana Football Association, and non-Executive Council Member Sheikh Tophic Sienu were found guilty of contempt of court by an Accra High Court.

The two were sentenced to one day in prison and fined GHC 24,000 (2000 penalty units).

The court also found and released 12 other defendants, including GFA President Kurt Okraku.

Ashanti Gold FC filed a contempt case against GFA Executive Council Members for launching the 2022/2023 Betpawa Premier League despite an interlocutory injunction.

The miners were praying for the Executive Council members to be imprisoned for disrespecting the court’s dignity, respect, and authority.
