Sehwi Kramokrom's outdated school structure collapses injuring 10 students

A dilapidated Kramokrom D/A Primary school structure in the Western North Region’s Sehwi Wiawso Municipality has collapsed on students from primary one to four.

According to estimates, the structure collapsed on approximately 50 students, injuring ten.

The school administration and some senior students rushed to rescue their classmates who were trapped beneath the crumbled structure.

The victims were taken to the Anyinabrim clinic for treatment, and five were subsequently referred to the Sehwi Asafo St. John of God Hospital.

According to Ezekiel Armah, an eyewitness, the structure fell as the students were learning in the classrooms.

He stated that the construction was ancient and had weakened due to recent rainfall, therefore the small breeze collapsed the school structure.

Despite being one of the district’s principal schools, it has not been renovated since its construction.
