SHS student in critical condition for owing ¢5

Davis Nkrumah, a final year Senior High School (SHS) student at Twifu Hemang Technical Institute, is fighting for his life after being afflicted with cutlass wounds for a GH5 debt.

The event allegedly occurred in Jukwa, Twifu Hemang Lower Denkyira District, Central Region.

According to Kasapa News, the victim, who had been in school for a few weeks, had failed to pay a 5 debt owing to a guy named Salinko.

On Sunday, May 7, 2023, the suspect learned that the victim had returned home for the weekend. Salinko allegedly went to his residence and assaulted him with a machete without asking him any questions.

Shouts from the victim drew the attention of neighbours, who came to his aid and disarmed the suspect.

When the suspect was at school, an effort to collect his money from the victim was ineffective, so he resolved to collect the money when he returned.

He claims he has no idea what possessed him to bring a machete with him to attack the victim.

The student was taken to Cape Coast Teaching Hospital for treatment, and the suspect was turned over to Jukwa Police for investigation.

Four people killed as US convoy ambushed in Nigeria

According to local authorities, gunmen ambushed a US convoy in south-eastern Nigeria, killing four persons.

According to reports, two of the victims of Tuesday’s attack in Anambra state were workers of the US consulate, while the other two were police officers.

The perpetrators seized three more persons and set fire to their vehicle.

According to Washington, no US citizens were in the convoy, which was travelling through a state rife with instability and a separatist insurrection.

According to Nigerian police, the attack occurred on the Atani-Osamale route in the Ogbaru region.

According to DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, a police spokesperson, security forces are currently conducting a rescue and recovery operation.

The US confirmed to the BBC that “an incident occurred on May 16 in Anambra state,” adding that Washington was collaborating with Nigerian security authorities to investigate the attack.

“The security of our personnel is always paramount, and we take extensive precautions when organising trips to the field,” the US state department said.

The Nigerian government frequently blames violent attacks in the region on the separatist Indigenous People of Biafra (Ipob) movement.

So far, the group has made no public comments on the matter.
