Sonny Barger was born on October 8, 1938, in Modesto, California, United States. His parents are Robert Varger and Kathryn Carmella. There is no further information about his family. According to some sources, his father was an alcoholic, and his mother abandoned the family when he was only four years old. His father, on the other hand, raised him and her sister.
Barger was expelled multiple times after getting into a fight in school and assaulting teachers. He eventually lost interest in school and spent the majority of his time at a grocery store. In 1954, he was still a student at Oakland High School and founded the Earth Angels group.
Sonny enlisted in the army in 1955 and served for 14 months. He was then expelled from there due to a forged birth certificate. He then worked at a few different jobs before joining a local motorbike club.
Personal Life
Sonny Barger, the notorious biker, died on June 30th, at the age of 83, and his fourth wife will carry on his legacy. The news broke on Facebook. Barger was dying of cancer, which was the cause of his death.
Career
In 1956, Barger became a member of the Oakland Panthers, his first motorbike club. Following that, he and his close friends founded the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club in Oakland, California. It is a worldwide one-percenter motorbike club.
The Oakland Charter, which Barger led, gave birth to an enlarged version of the Death’s Head patch. The Barger Larger was the name given to it. Hunter S Thompson is a well-known American journalist and author who spent many years interviewing members of the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club in order to write his book “Hell’s Angels,” which was published in 1967.
Richard Rush directed a film called Hells Angels on Wheels in 1967. Sonny makes a brief cameo appearance in the film but does not speak.
In 1968, Tom Wolfe’s nonfiction book “The Electric Kool-Aid Acid Test” mentioned Hells and Barger. This book is about Ken Kesey’s personal adventures and those of his followers, known as the Merry Pranksters. Furthermore, in 1970, he appeared in the film ‘Hell Angels 69.’
The Barger gang was also present at the Altamont Speedway Free Festival, which took place on December 6, 1969, in California, United States.
In addition, he appeared in the documentary film Gimme Shelter. It was made in 1970 by a British and an American filmmaker. Sonny made appearances in action, adventure, and crime films in 1983. In 2012, Dead in 5 Heartbeats and Dead in 5 Heartbeats were released.
In 1988, he relocated from Oakland to Cave Creek, Arizona. He is an active member of the Hells Angels Chapter in that area. Sunny appeared in the thirteenth and final episode of the third season of the American action crime series Sons of Anarchy, which aired on FX.
Barger and Utter shared some screen time and appeared in the series during one of the four finales broadcast on November 19, 2011, and titled “To Be, Act I.” The following year, he appeared in the tenth episode of season five titled Crucifix, which aired on November 13, 2012.

In his statement, he said he died “peacefully” after a “brief battle with cancer.” However, this was not Barger’s first encounter with cancer.
Following a throat cancer diagnosis in 1983, Hells Angel had his vocal cords removed, but he was able to relearn how to communicate using his stomach muscles.
