The officer who allegedly shot his girlfriend for cheating speaks from his hideout

The man accused of shooting and killing 26-year-old Victoria Dapaa, also known as Maadwoa, at Adum in Kumasi is a married police inspector with children.

An eyewitness told our News Team from Akoma87.9FM in Kumasi that Maadwoa, the deceased, was shot multiple times by the police inspector on the night of Thursday, April 20, 2023.

According to an eyewitness who witnessed a heated argument between the two moments before her death, her killer – a police officer and the deceased’s alleged boyfriend – accused her of cheating.

“At first, we thought he was an armed robber, but then we heard Maadwoa pleading with him not to kill her because she hadn’t cheated on him.” But he refused to listen and shot her six times. “Before picking up her body, the police retrieved 5 empty shells; they later retrieved one more shell,” an eyewitness said.

Meanwhile, the deceased’s brother claimed he prevented his sister from seeing her boyfriend that night, but to no avail.

“I was preventing my sister from meeting her boyfriend that night for some strange reason, but she just ignored me,” he explained.

Meanwhile, in a video that is currently circulating on social media, the alleged police officer calls a trusted relative and informs her of the crime he committed and the possible action he intends to take.

According to the voice heard in the video, he said he had been caring for the deceased as a boyfriend, but all Maadwoa could offer in return was to maltreat him.

He also stated that he will take his own life to end the uproar.

Four people killed as US convoy ambushed in Nigeria

According to local authorities, gunmen ambushed a US convoy in south-eastern Nigeria, killing four persons.

According to reports, two of the victims of Tuesday’s attack in Anambra state were workers of the US consulate, while the other two were police officers.

The perpetrators seized three more persons and set fire to their vehicle.

According to Washington, no US citizens were in the convoy, which was travelling through a state rife with instability and a separatist insurrection.

According to Nigerian police, the attack occurred on the Atani-Osamale route in the Ogbaru region.

According to DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, a police spokesperson, security forces are currently conducting a rescue and recovery operation.

The US confirmed to the BBC that “an incident occurred on May 16 in Anambra state,” adding that Washington was collaborating with Nigerian security authorities to investigate the attack.

“The security of our personnel is always paramount, and we take extensive precautions when organising trips to the field,” the US state department said.

The Nigerian government frequently blames violent attacks in the region on the separatist Indigenous People of Biafra (Ipob) movement.

So far, the group has made no public comments on the matter.
