Due to an injury, Thomas Partey will most likely miss Ghana’s first two games in the 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers this month.
The Black Stars deputy captain is now recovering from a muscular ailment sustained at training.
Partey suffered the injury while training with his Gunners colleagues after appearing for the Black Stars in October friendlies against Mexico and the United States.
Partey was not included in Arsenal’s squad for their 2-2 draw with Chelsea at Stamford Bridge.
However, the club revealed that Partey has sustained a muscular injury that will require additional evaluation ahead of their Champions League match against Sevilla.
Mikel Arteta, the side’s head coach, said that the Ghana international will be out for weeks and is unsure when he will return to the pitch before to their Carabao Cup game against West Ham on Wednesday.
According to ESPN, Partey will be sidelined until December once the team conducts more testing.
The Black Stars will be without Thomas Partey as they begin their 2026 World Cup qualifiers this month.
Ghana will play Madagascar at the Baba Yara Stadium on Friday, November 17, before heading to Comoros at the Moroni Stadium on Tuesday, November 21.
The Black Stars, who have been under pressure, will want to win the games in order to qualify for their sixth World Cup before departing for the 2023 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in January.
Meanwhile, Thomas Partey is anticipated to be healthy for the AFCON, which will be held in Ivory Coast from January 13 to February 11.
The Black Stars are seeking to break the country’s 41-year trophy drought.
