An Accra Circuit Court has remanded a 27-year-old welder accused of stealing a cosmetics box and its contents worth GH5,300.00.
Isaac Bortey Bortier is also accused of stealing an Akai 40-inch television for GH2,800.00, an iPhone 7 Plus worth GH2,200.00, a Techno Camon mobile phone worth GH2,145.00, five strands of human hair at GH5,500.00, and GH2,600.00 in cash.
Bortier also unlawfully invaded Madam Helix Amoakowaa’s property and purposely and unlawfully caused damage to two-door padlocks valued at GH200.00.
The accused, who was charged with inflicting illegal damage, breaking and entering, and stealing, pleaded not guilty.
The accused was remanded into police custody and ordered to appear in court on July 24 2023, presided over by Mr Samuel Bright Acquah.
Prosecuting Police Chief Inspector Ramata Asumah informed the Court that the complainant, Madam Helix Amoakowaa, is a hairdresser and a Nungua resident, while the accused person also lived in Nungua.
According to the prosecution, on June 26, 2023, about 0330 hours, the complainant awoke from her sleep to discover that criminals had broken into her room and stolen her red and silver beauty box with its contents, as well as other objects described before.
According to the report, a complaint was filed at the Nima Police Station, and on June 31, 2023, the accused was detained in connection with a theft case being investigated by Detective Sergeant Simon Migida at Nungua Divisional CID.
According to the report, the Police performed a search in the accused person’s room at Nungua Manheim and seized several things, including the complainant’s red and silver beauty box and its contents, which were thought to have been stolen.
According to the prosecution, the complainant later came to the police to identify the aforementioned cosmetics box and its contents as hers.
According to the report, the accused was afterwards re-arrested.
