Zachary Knight Galifianakis was born in Wilkesboro, North Carolina, on October 1, 1969, to Mary Frances and Harry Galifianakis. His mother owned a community arts centre, while his father sold heating oil. Galifianakis’ father’s family is from Crete, Greece, while his mother’s family is from Scotland. He has two siblings: Merritt, his younger sister, and Greg, his elder brother. He attended North Carolina State University after graduating from Wilkes Central High School, where he majored in communications.
Personal Life
In August 2012, Galifianakis married Quinn Lundberg. Growing Voices is a nonprofit co-founded by Lundberg. They have two kids who were born in 2013 and 2016, respectively. In Sparta, Alleghany County, North Carolina, he runs a farm. He divides his time between employment and farming.
In response to the passage of Texas H.B. 2, a state bill that restricted access to abortion and caused a large number of Texas abortion clinics to close, Galifianakis and his “A Night of a Thousand Vaginas” co-star Sarah Silverman organised a fundraiser to benefit the Texas Abortion Fund in January 2014.
Career
Galifianakis began his career and broke into the entertainment industry through television. He appeared as a guest star on the NBC comedy “Boston Common” and worked as a writer for “Saturday Night Live” for two weeks. Galifianakis made an appearance in an episode of “Comedy Central Presents” in September 2001. Among other things, his portion featured him performing a stand-up comedy performance and playing the piano. The success of his segment helped him get his own VH1 talk programme, “Late World with Zach,” in 2002. He also played Davis in the Fox drama “Tru Calling,” Frisbee in four episodes of “Reno 911!” and appeared on “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” several times.
